Introducing the Art For All Career Corner!

If you’re thinking about starting a career in the games industry, you might be wondering what’s the best way of going about that, with many questions in your head like, “What skills do I need exactly to get in?” or “Is there a position that’s best for someone just starting?” Well, at Art For All you can get the answers to those two and many others by visiting the Career Corner!

Throughout the day on September 7th at EC1 Łódź in Łódź, Poland, you’ll be able to freely chat with representatives from both big and smaller game development studios at their dedicated stations — no bookings required! You’ll be able to meet up with teams from the following wonderful outfits:

  • 11 bit studios from Warsaw, creators of the Frostpunk series and This War of Mine, as well as publishers of such titles as the recently released Indika, The Thaumaturge, and Creatures of Ava, among many others;

  • bloober team, the Kraków-based ensemble known for their their work on spine-chilling horror experiences including the Layers of Fear series, Observer, Blair Witch, and The Medium, currently working on the remake of a cult classic — Silent Hill 2;

  • Fool’s Theory from Bielsko-Biała, the team who brought you such titles as isometric role-playing game Seven: The Days Long Gone and the recently released The Thaumaturge published by 11 bit studios;

  • Render Cube, makers of the popular survival/crafting RPG Medieval Dynasty, representing Łódź, Poland;

  • Afterburn, also from Łódź, who created such indie gems like Railbound, inbento, Golf Peaks, and the upcoming Pup Champs;

  • CD PROJEKT RED, creators of The Witcher series of games and Cyberpunk 2077, currently working on the next Witcher and Cyberpunk games, with offices in Warsaw, Kraków, and Wrocław in Poland, as well as Boston, USA and Vancouver, Canada;

  • People Can Fly of Painkiller, Gears of War: Judgment, Bulletstorm, and Outriders fame, based in Warsaw, Rzeszów, and Łódź, Poland as well as New York and Chicago, USA, with a publishing division in Dublin, Ireland.

Here’s how this works: if you want to chat with any of the teams, simply approach their dedicated station in the lobby, find a free studio representative, and start chatting — you’ve got this! They’ll also help you find the best person to address your needs if their area of expertise lies elsewhere.

Speaking of expertise, while visiting the Career Corner you’ll be able to learn more about:

  • the ins and outs of recruitment at the studios, including where to look for their offers, kicking off the process (which may vary from studio to studio), and what sort of stages to expect;
  • how each studio works, what methodologies they employ, and what values and goals drive them in their daily and long-term efforts;
  • the best way to prepare for a job interview with a given team, with useful tips and tricks aimed at helping you pass with flying colors;
  • how to put together your portfolio in a clean and organized way to best help you present yourself to your potential future employer;
  • developing the right skillset for your dream job or an entry-level position from which you can start growing.
